JAY-Z IS HEADIN TO COLOMBIA RECORDS

Speculation is mounting that Jay-z is heading to Colombia records is reaching paramount -Is it because of Jermaine Dupri, Rick Ruban or both…

New York Media sources are reporting a music industry insider has tipped them off with the information that the current CEO of (Island) Def Jam, Jay-Z, is looking to leave the label and follow Rick Ruban to take up a position at Columbia Records. This information has been fueling speculation that the reason for the move may be caused by Jermaine Dupri who recently landed the position of President of the Island Urban Music Division.

Sources say, “There isn’t room for two kings at one label,” says a source. “Why would Island bring in another power-hitter urban guy?”

The facts speak for themselves; JD brings Janet Jackson to the label whilst Rick Ruban, who has worked very closely with Jay-z and was a co-founder or Def Jam with Russel Simmons, left the Warner Music Group in May and is Columbia’s current co-chairman.

Both Coumbia Records and Island Def Jam refused to comment on the situation.
